URGENT NOTICE

NE LHIN Open House June 17 2 pm - 7 pm. 619 Bay St. Sault Ste. Marie.

The North East LHIN is holding an Open House in SSM to seek community input into a three-year strategic plan. The plan, called the Integrated Health Service Plan (IHSP) will outline North East Ontarios's health care priorities from 2010 to 2013. As part of Engage 2009, announced in April, the North East LHIN is interested in hearing what people have to say from all corners of the region.

Everyone is welcomed to attend. For those individuals who would like to take part in a group discussion on health care priorities in the North East, focus groups will be held at 3 PM and again at 5:30 PM.

The decision to close Matthew's Memorial Hospital in Richards Landing has been deterred!!
But the fight still isn't over, we need your help! Please keep all of your support flooding in. It is a great booster for all of us, and we really appreciate it.

Facts About Matthews Memorial Hospital

*~ Did you know that MMH offers service from Echo Bay to Bruce Mines, going as far back as Leeburn and Ophir.

*~ There is also C.A.S.S, and all of the feeder schools in the area that are to use MMH as their "in case of emergancy".

*~ Matthews Memorial Hospital is a satellite site of the Sault Area Hospital

*~ Allows local residents to keep loved ones in their own home for as long as possible by providing community based access to emergency and outpatient services.

*~ Operates for less the 0.6% of the Sault Area Hopsital's annual budget

*~ Covers an area roughly 5 times the size of Sault Ste. Marie

*~ Has been operating for 84 years and has been a satellite site since 1984

*~ Lessens the load on the Sault emergency room by 2600-3000 patients per year

*~ Provides emergency and outpatient care for approximately 4000 summer residents in addition to 7000 permanent residents

*~ Matthews Memorial Hospital is a vital cornerstone for health services, including home care, senior services and the attraction/retention of family doctors
